Does ISOH/IMPACT ever have an audit and how is money distributed that is given to ISOH/IMPACT?
ISOH/IMPACT is audited yearly by an independent auditor. Money is distributed into three categories: 1% Fundraising; 97% Program Expenses; 2% Administrative Expenses.

Who helps run ISOH/IMPACT?
ISOH/IMPACT is a volunteer driven ministry.

Is ISOH/IMPACT part of a church or denomination?
ISOH/IMPACT is incorporated as a nonprofit organization under the laws of Ohio and is exempt from income taxes under Section 501 (C) (3) of the internal Revenue Code. ISOH/IMPACT is a non-denominational Christian faith based organization.

Does ISOH/IMPACT only help Christians?
ISOH/IMPACT provides services to children and their families regardless of race, religion, or ethnic backgrounds.

Does ISOH/IMPACT only help people overseas?

No, ISOH/IMPACT is involved with Hurricane relief in America, helps impoverished families in the Appalachia area, and supports inner city missions.

What paperwork is required by ISOH/IMPACT for a child to enter the children’s medical rehabilitation program (CMRP)?
ISOH/IMPACT needs a completed application, an up to date diagnosis from the child’s in country physician, travel documents, and guardianship of the child.

How does ISOH/IMPACT decide which child comes to the United States for medical rehabilitation?
The children are usually referred to ISOH/IMPACT by indigenous physicians or medical personnel, or when a child is presented to ISOH/IMPACT during a clinic. The child’s paperwork is then submitted to ISOH/IMPACT and the appropriate physician in the United States for further evaluation.

Who covers the cost of children who come to the United States for medical rehabilitation?
The physician’s cost is donated; the hospital cost is usually donated, all out of hospital expenses are paid for by ISOH/IMPACT through fundraising.

Where does a child stay when they come to the United States for medical rehabilitation?
Children stay at The Children’s LightHouse in Perrysburg, Ohio.

How long do the children stay in the United States?

The determination as to when a child can return home is up to the team of physicians and health care providers.

What types of teams are organized by ISOH/IMPACT?
ISOH/IMPACT sends medical teams overseas that partner with the local health care institutions and health care professionals for the purpose of establishing sustainable relationships.

Medical/Surgical teams perform general surgery, orthopedic surgery and provide primary health care. Medical brigades work in clinics, mountain villages, and places where routine care and assessment are needed.

ISOH/IMPACT sends work teams overseas to assist medical teams, build or renovate clinics, orphanages, schools, and churches, paint, and distribute food in mountain villages.

What are ISOH/IMPACT’s' responsibilities in organizing international teams?

  • Coordinate interviews for new applicants and provide orientations.

  • Place volunteers on teams, make travel arrangements, organize room & board, and coordinate medicines & supplies.

  • Supply "welcome home" debriefings and packets to all disaster response team members upon return.
What are a volunteer's responsibilities?
  • Participate in three pre-trip orientation and briefing

  • Prepare for service (immunizations, proper gear, etc.)

  • Provide feedback on trip experience.

  • Ability to work on behalf of a faith based organization; have a servant’s heart, a compassion for children, their families, and the elderly who are in complex humanitarian emergencies.

  • Willingness to work in difficult conditions and challenging environments

  • Current professional licenses for medical professionals

  • Good general health and up to date doctor recommended immunizations

  • Valid passport

  • Ability to pay and/or fund-raise travel and in-country expenses

  • Ability to assist in acquiring needed team supplies

Some of the countries that ISOH/IMPACT and partners have shipped humanitarian relief to are: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belize, Belarus, Botswana, Bulgaria, Cayman Islands, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iraq, Israel, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Malawi, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam, The United States (Hurricanes Charley Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne), and Zambia.

How does ISOH/IMPACT pay for shipments of humanitarian relief?
ISOH/IMPACT applies for shipping grants with the United States government, partners with other organizations with similar interests, receives private donations, and solicits funding from public sources.

How does ISOH/IMPACT ship humanitarian relief?

ISOH/IMPACT transports humanitarian relief by ocean going containers, airfreight, and over the road tractor trailers.
