A Miracle Birth in Haiti

NewBaby01WIn today's modern world, even Christians often believe that miracles are a thing of the past. But as long as we have a living, loving God, miracles are still a part of our life. Yesterday's miraculous birth at Double Harvest hospital, an ISOH/IMPACT ministry partner in Haiti, showed once more that our God is very much alive and working in even the most difficult conditions--especially in the most difficult conditions.

The mother was in labor for a total 40 hours, but could not give birth. The hospital has been staffed by orthopedic surgeons since this is the greatest need, and when they saw the complications, they sent for an OB/GYN specialist who was able to make it to the rural hospital after 12 hours. In the midst of all of this, two strong aftershocks hit, shaking the hospital and leaving behind trembling hearts and hands.

The OB/GYN was able to perform a C-Section, but the baby was born without a heartbeat and was not breathing.

"One of the doctors said it was like walking through the valley of death," said Linda Greene, ISOH/IMPACT president.

Partnering to Provide Food & Dignity

food01In the aftermath of Haiti's deady earthquake, ISOH/IMPACT has been partnering with Double Harvest, a Haiti-based agricultural and development organization, to provide medical care and food to the survivors.

"We want to feed people in a way that is dignified and orderly, without just throwing food at them," said Frantz Angus, Double Harvest Executive Director.

ISOH/IMPACT has sent containers with thousands of servings of life-saving food and supplies directly to Double Harvest, who is in a position distribute the food efficiently and securely. Double Harvest has implemented a system using color-coded ID bracelets to identify food recipients by village. A bracelet is given to the eldest woman in each household, allowing them to receive their food aid with safety and dignity.

We also continue to provide medical support to the Double Harvest hospital, where an ISOH/IMPACT medical response team performed hundreds of surgeries in the early days following the earthquake.

500 Haiti Orphans Need Sponsorship!

While serving through one of our ministry partners in Haiti, ISOH/IMPACT met 500 refugee orphans who need your help. These children have lost their homes, families, and what few possessions they had. They are scared, lost, and vulnerable.

You can be a part of Reaching Out & Serving these precious children. Just $15 a month for 6 months will provide food, water, and basic medical care for one of these orphaned children.
