The Children’s LightHouse (a ministry of ISOH/IMPACT) serves as a sanctuary for children… a place for mending broken bodies, bones, and hearts. A child’s life is precious and fragile. When that life is in crisis it takes love, prayer, and skilled professionals to help mend it.
Melany's Story
“What did I do? Why am I being punished?” The mother sobbed as we gave her the report that both of her children are sick.
The truth is, this heart-broken mother did nothing wrong. We held her, prayed with her, and did our best to explain that God loves her and has a plan for her life – and the lives of her children.
Melany, the woman’s daughter is a delightful little girl, well cared for and adored by her parents. She suffers from Truncus Ateriosus, a life-threatening heart condition that affects the blood flow to the body and the lungs. Melany’s heart cannot be fixed in Honduras, her home country.
Melany’s brother, Mario, was recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy. He cannot control his movements, must be fed by his parents, and is unable to speak. Doctors believe Mario contracted cerebral palsy in the womb when his mother was battling measles.
Please pray with us for this dear family. It is difficult to imagine the extent of their suffering, but their sorrow is written on their mother’s face.
Melany is istrong enough to be an excellent candidate for heart surgery, and we are working hard to bring her to the US through our Children's LightHouse ministry.
How you can help:
- Commit to pray for Melany and her family.
- Contribute to Melany’s fund for airfare. We will need an estimated $2,000 to transport her and an adult family member.
- Sponsor Melany to provide food, school, and ongoing medical care.
Cesia's Story
Cesia is only 8 years old, but already her parents and teachers can see the great potential for her life. Cesia has a severe hearing impairment, and a lack of resources and special assistance add to the challenges facing her. But she is overcoming the obstacles one by one. Cesia is already learning to read and write. We hope to bring her soon to the US through the Children’s LightHouse so she can undergo a formal assessment by local doctors and experts. Cesia’s case is much simpler than many of the life-threatening heart conditions facing other Children’s LightHouse kids, so we hope that we can move quickly with her and improve her quality of life. Cesia has so much potential – please join us in helping her to meet it.
Amount needed: $2,000 airfare plus ongoing sponsorship.
Aziza's Story
Aziza was born with an imperforated anus. She is only 10 months old, and her condition is delicate. Dr. Levitt in Cincinnati, OH has approved Aziza for restorative surgery and has agreed to perform the operation. We need to wait another year or two for the surgery, but we must bring Aziza to the US immediately. Our partners have assessed this precious baby’s condition, and she is at tremendous risk of dying from malnutrition or starvation. USAID has advised us that Tajikistan will suffer a terrible winter, putting Aziza at further risk for starvation. Please help us bring Aziza to the Children’s LightHouse where she will receive healthy meals and build up her strength for her surgery. You can help us save her life.
Amount needed: Ongoing sponsorship.
