Polio Strikes Tajik Boys and Girls

Ismoil01bWhen most of us think of Polio, we think of it as a tragic disease that has been eradicated. But Polio hasn't been eradicated, not completely anyway. At this very moment, a Polio outbreak is threatening the lives and well being of hundreds of Tajik children--children like 12-year-old Ismoil.

Two months ago, Ismoil was a healthy, active boy. He returned home one evening from playing soccer with buddies from his neighborhood. He was running a high fever and had a bad headache.

Ismoil's parents sought medical care for their boy, but lab tests did not show anything unusual. Convinced that he had picked up a summer virus, the hospital sent Ismoil home.

A few days later, Ismoil woke up and suddenly realized that he could not pick up or move his legs. He was diagnosed with polio.

ISOH/IMPACT is Reaching Out & Serving the polio victims in Tajikistan. We are offering special medical aid to Ismoil and children like him. But we need your help.

Tornado Victims Receive New Home

NewHome01bKeith, Samantha and their three children lost everything when an early morning tornado swept through their neighborhood June 5, 2010. As the family was confronted with helplessness and felt their hope beginning to dwindle, ISOH/IMPACT stepped in with assistance to meet their immediate needs. But we knew that we could not leave the family without a home. Through the generous assistance of an anonymous donor, ISOH/IMPACT is pleased to be able to provide The Hudson Family with a fresh start. We closed on a new home for the Hudsons Wednesday, July 21.

Blessing Torando Victims

When the June tornadoes devastated Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, ISOH/IMPACT's supporters, volunteers, and minsitry partners responded with compassion and generosity. Thanks to them, we've been able to distribute thousands of dollars of emergency relief in the form of gift cards for families who lost everything in the tornadoes.

Amy was one recipient of a $500 grocery card.

" WOW....WOW....WOW! What a blessing that is. THANK YOU so much," Amy wrote to us in a recent email.

Thank YOU for Reaching Out & Serving Amy.

Update

As of July 27, 2010 ISOH/IMPACT has distributed more than $110,000 in cash, gift cards, food, water and relief supplies to the tornado victims.

Hope for the Hudson Family

The last few weeks have no doubt been difficult for the Hudson family, who lost their home when a tornado ripped across northwest Ohio a few weeks ago. On Sunday, June 20th, however, ISOH/IMPACT was able to offer hope to the family that has already endured so much. Keith and Samantha Hudson, who affectionately call their sons the three musketeers, received gift cards from The Anderson’s as well buckets of cleaning and food supplies. With the help of the community, ISOH/IMPACT will continue to bring hope to local families affected by the recent tornadoes.

Boy Scouts Reach Out and Serve Others

A local Boy Scout Troop came out to the ISOH/IMPACT warehouse on Saturday, June 19, 2010 to help with our Bucket Brigade. The volunteers washed and stacked 5-gallon buckets to be used to transport cleaning and food supplies to families most affected by disasters. With their help, ISOH/IMPACT hopes to provide necessary supplies to families in the local community, throughout the country, and around the world. These kids really know how important it is to Reach Out and Serve Others!
